7th and 8th Grade Band Concert

 


  On May 15, the 7th & 8th Grade Band performed in the EMS gymnasium. 

5th Graders Graduate from D.A.R.E.

5th Graders at EMS graduated from D.A.R.E. on May 14th.  The students were lucky enough to meet Bullet, the canine police dog and his owner, Sergeant Smith.

P.T.O. Walk-a-Thon a Huge Success

Thank you to all the students, parents, and community for your amazing support of our P.T.O. Walk-a-Thon this year!  Over $5,400 was raised! 



FCA Olympics at EMS

On Thursday, May 10, 7th and 8th grade FCA members enjoyed an evening of fun-filled Olympics in the EMS gym. 

 



5th Graders Learn From a Blacksmith


To supplement learning about Colonial Life in America, the 5th grade students had the opportunity to watch blacksmithing first hand.  Guest blacksmiths Mr. Hohulin and Mr. Sloter came to the school and talked about the importance of blacksmithing during colonial times and showed students how blacksmiths made various items like nails and arrowheads.


Houston! We Have Lift Off!

Mr. Wear's 6th Grade Science students enjoyed a day out in the sun experimenting with their homemade rockets.  Some had great success, while others were just fun to make!  Way to go, 6th graders!
 



The EMS 5th grade went to the Peoria Chiefs baseball game on Tuesday, April 24th to celebrate their success in DARE.  The Chiefs won the game with a score of 6 – 2.





EMS Student Council Members Attend Conference


Some members of the EMS Student Council attended the IAJHSC conference in Springfield, Illinois, on Friday and Saturday, April 20th and 21st.  They listened to guest speakers, attended leadership workshops, and met students from across Illinois.  Over 1,000 student council members attended from across the state.

Photoshop Class Visits Eureka Apostolic Nursing Home

Ms. Pyle, EMS Art teacher, and her Photoshop class visited the Eureka Apostolic Nursing Home on March 28. Accompanying each student was a personally designed Easter card for the 22 residents of the Alzheimer’s unit. Students thoroughly enjoyed baking cupcakes, playing bingo and the piano, and having great conversations with the residents.

Congratulations to Mr. John Schaidle for collecting his 100th Career Dual Meet victory at EMS!  Way to go, Coach!
